Under the new multi-source agreement that was reached in Langley, UK, content on Malaysia Airlines will be made available to Travelport-connected customers worldwide.
Customers of Travelport will be able to gain access to Malaysia Airlines’ future new distribution capability (NDC) content via Travelport+, the global technology company’s next-generation travel retailing platform.
Group CEO of the full-service Malaysian carrier Izham Ismail said the decades-long partnership with Travelport had help the airline fulfill its business needs.
“Our expanded partnership is important to our long-term transformative business plan, especially with our NDC initiative implementation,” he said in a joint statement issued by both parties.
The objective of the NDC is to modernise the way air travel products are retailed to travel agents, coporations and travellers. It is supported by the International Air Transport Association.
Izham noted that since Malaysia lifted travel restrictions and reopened its international borders on April 1, flight bookings had increased and continued to show an upward trajectory.
“This has rejuvenated the aviation industry that was hit hard by Covid-19,” he said.
He added that the expanded partnership with Travelport would ensure the smooth and seamless delivery of the airline’s content to Travelport-connected customers and travellers across the globe.
Head of air partners for Asia-Pacific at Travelport, Sue Carter, said the two parties would be working together to jumpstart innovations that would improve modern travel retail customer experience.
