PETALING JAYA:
The New Straits Times Press Bhd (NSTP) has appointed Farrah Naz Karim as the group editor of its English daily New Straits Times, with her appointment taking effect from Sept 15.

In a statement, NSTP said her appointment would help facilitate its goal of consolidating news operations across its media platforms while enhancing content.

“Farrah Naz has served at NSTP in various capacities since 2000, including as executive editor.

“She was most recently attached to Media Prima Television Networks as an executive producer for its current affairs programmes,” NSTP said in a statement.

She will replace current NST group editor Ahmad Lokman Mansor, who was appointed to the position on January 1, 2020.

Group managing editor Mustapha Kamil Janor said more changes in the newsroom would be made to help NSTP keep up with the increasingly competitive media industry.

“As a group, we have made significant progress in this as evidently (seen) in Media Prima’s financial performance in the last two years.”

He maintained that NSTP had strived to operate independently in recent years without any external pressure, including political influences.

“As a member of a public-listed company, the group is governed by strict corporate governance and transparency and an able board of directors.”
