ATHENS: An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck off the island of Crete in Greece on Wednesday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The quake was at a depth of 83km, GFZ said.
Residents in Egypt also felt the quake with the country’s national research institute of astronomy and geophysics reporting no casualties or property damage.
The institute said it recorded a quake of 6.4 magnitude 431km off Egypt’s northern coasts.
