PORT-AU-PRINCE: Haitian police on Thursday arrested Joseph Felix Badio, a former justice official accused in the plot to kill then-president Jovenel Moise in 2021, a witness told Reuters.
Several police officers armed with rifles intercepted Badio as he was driving out of a supermarket parking lot in Petion-Ville, a Port-au-Prince suburb, on Thursday afternoon, the witness said.
Local media outlets also reported the arrest.
Haitian officials had accused Badio of being at “the heart of the assassination” of Moise, which plunged the Caribbean country into political chaos as it remains without an elected leader and gangs have increasingly grown in power.
