SYDNEY: Australian actors Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth have failed to make it into the Forbes 2016 list of the world’s 30 highest-paid actors, China’s Xinhua news agency reported, citing Fairfax Media Friday.

The annual list by Forbes looks at the earnings of the world’s 30 highest-paid actors, with the two Australians being regulars in the past.

This is despite both actors having thriving movie careers with Jackman just done filming the next Wolverine movie in New Mexico, and Hemsworth currently shooting Thor: Ragnarok in Queensland.

This year’s top-earning actor went to former professional wrestler turned action star Dwayne Johnson. He sits atop the list with USD64.5 million in earnings garnered in the last financial year.

This year’s top 30 also reflects the growing importance of the global box office, particularly in China and India, and the rise of young Hollywood actresses compared to their male counterparts.

China’s martial arts star Jackie Chan was second with USD61 million while Matt Damon (USD55 million) and Tom Cruise (USD53 million) took third and fourth places respectively

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan (10th with USD33 million), Akshay Kumar (12th USD31.5 million), Salman Khan (16th USD28.5 million) and Amitabh Bachchan (21st with USD20 million) earned more than many other Hollywood actors, to the surprise of many.
