Winter and Roxy are the two special girls in Keith Lester Tang’s life. But before you leap to any conclusions, they are actually his Siberian Huskies!
The beautiful dogs are both seven years old, with only a week’s difference between them. Tang, who has always wanted huskies, bought them at a pet fair when they were only three months old.
According to him, each of the girls has her own distinct personality.
“Winter loves food, looking pretty, and taking photos. She’ll actually pose for you in front of the camera,” said Tang, who is the 29-year-old founder of StreetPaw, a social enterprise that aims to help strays.
She can also be dramatic, he revealed, recalling the time a groomer trimmed Winter’s fur too short. She thereafter refused to do anything – not even eat!
“Even when I called her, she wouldn’t respond. She became more emotional whenever someone commented on her short fur.” Thankfully, she returned to her usual self after her fur grew back!

Unlike Winter, Roxy doesn’t fancy food as much, though she does enjoy going for walks and runs with her human. “She loves being outside and exploring the world,” Tang said fondly.
In the mornings, while Winter heads downstairs for breakfast, Roxy prefers to sleep in instead. “Even when we call her, she ignores us!”
The girls typically enjoy customised doggy meals that include lamb, beef, and vegetables such as carrots, pumpkins, and broccoli. These formulated meals are available for purchase from StreetPaw.
“Without them, I wouldn’t have started selling these meals,” Tang told FMT, explaining that Roxy and Winter were the ones who inspired his business venture. “Only after I began feeding them did I decide to make these available to others.”
The girls also love snacking on blueberries and strawberries.

Despite the fact that they are not related by blood, they share a warm and close relationship, just like sisters. In fact, when they were younger, Winter would save some of her food for Roxy.
“And if I try to take Roxy out for a walk without Winter, Roxy simply refuses to go,” Tang added. The pair do everything together daily – including asking their humans for pets and rubs!
The girls are usually indoors and love being in an air-conditioned room. In fact, they have also developed a cheeky way of asking their humans to turn the A/C on.
“They will look at us, and then they will look at the air-conditioner,” Tang laughed, adding that the pooches sleep in his room at night.
Although all his previous dogs used to live outdoors, the girls have convinced their humans they should be allowed inside. “In fact, these days, even my father calls them to his room as soon as he wakes up.”

Unsurprisingly, the loving huskies have had a huge and positive impact on Tang. “The best part of my day is coming home and having them run out to greet me,” he said.
“They have brought a lot of joy into my life.”
