Kebun-Kebun Bangsar is one such space, sitting on a hill with fantastic views spanning across the city of Kuala Lumpur.
Here city-dwellers can lose themselves in nature and get a glimpse into what typical country-living can be. There’s livestock roaming freely, flowers blooming in all their glory and 2.5 acres of vegetable farms sprouting fresh produce of every colour and variety.
This weekend, Kebun-Kebun Bangsar will be hosting a Mother’s Day family event in collaboration with rescue and rehome organisation Voice For Paws.
Aimed to be the perfect family fun day for all, guests are invited to visit the scenic farm and meet the many rescues that will be there in hopes of finding their forever homes.
Voice For Paws president Brevina Balasundran said this will mark the first time an adoption drive is being held at the farm and they are looking forward to it, especially since the farm recently adopted three beautiful dogs, Micah, Speckle and Ammu.
“We are excited to hold this event, to help people become aware that there is such a quiet, peaceful place that you can visit to experience animals you wouldn’t normally see in the city, like one Australian sheep, ducks, chickens, turkeys and even a beautiful, colourful peacock,” she said.
Brevina said some of the rescues that will be there include Shadow, Soldier and Poppy.

“Shadow is a spunky, smart and lovable little girl who was rescued after her mother got run over by a car. Being black and a female has seen lesser people ask for her, but things like these really don’t matter. She’s at a great age to be trained and will make a great companion for life.”

“Soldier was only a month old when we found him with a huge gaping wound on his stomach and maggots crawling out, but he was such a little fighter and he survived the entire ordeal like a champion. He is now two months old, fully healed and is waiting for a forever home.

“Poppy on the other hand is a beautiful one-year old female who is toilet-trained, a great guard dog but more than that, one that will snuggle on your lap all day long,” Brevina said.
Since it’s Mother’s Day, there will also be food vendors present, including Anne’s Homemade Meals, yummy vegan pies and milkshakes from The 7 Bakery, Phils Pizza, local snacks as well as plenty of exciting activities for the children.
“We want children to have fun while experiencing the outdoors so there will be sand art activities, face painting and a clown that will perform some magic tricks,” said Brevina.
Meanwhile, MyForeverDoggo will also be there, giving guests an opportunity to create memories “one click at a time” with its photobooth, while Furbulous Pet Food Bangsar’s homemade meat jerky will be up for grabs.
Come on over and make this Mother’s Day one to remember forever.
