He has since undergone nine sessions of chemotherapy but still has a long road ahead of him. Unfortunately, his family is not able to continue paying for his treatment due to loss of income, and is in desperate need of help.
Shun Rong’s condition is hereditary and has been passed down from his grandfather to his father and now him. His father was diagnosed with cancer when he was three, which led to the removal of his right eye to stop it from spreading.
Having partially lost his sight at such a young age, Chow Kim Kiong is determined to do what he can to prevent the same thing from happening to his son.
A single parent and the sole breadwinner, Kim Kiong supports his family by selling fruits at a nearby restaurant. Despite not earning much, he has to provide not only for Shun Rong’s treatment but also his own mother, who has chronic health issues.
Unfortunately, Kim Kiong was recently in a road accident that left him with an injured leg, and is temporarily unable to work. He worries if Shun Rong’s treatments are delayed due to his lack of income, it could lead to his son losing his eyesight.

He is also currently unable to take his son for treatments as he cannot ride his motorcycle. Consequently, they rely on public transport, the cost of which has accumulated.
Kim Kiong has reached out to Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da Ai Malaysia, a non-profit established in 2017 that helps disabled and special-needs individuals, as well as families going through tough times.
The team from Da Ai has provided them with some necessities, and has also been entrusted to hold a campaign to raise funds for Shun Rong’s treatment and to support the family for the next two years.
The targeted amount is RM48,000, of which RM12,000 will go towards Shun Rong’s medical bills, and the remainder for living expenses, schooling fees, and transport.
