PETALING JAYA:
Christmas is a time for giving, and thanks to local startup Furrenz, even your four-legged companions can receive gifts this holiday season.

The company is on a mission to ensure pets are happy and healthy by offering dog treats made from 100% natural, human-grade ingredients.

Furrenz is selling Christmas sets full of delicious treats for your furry friends, the proceeds from which will be donated to KLPooch Resort and Rescue, a non-profit boarding facility and rescue centre for dogs.

The Furrenz Christmas Box comes in two different flavours, lamb and turkey, and includes four different treats – quiche, turkey, cookies, and duck neck – as well as hypoallergenic soap.

The Santa Boot, on the other hand, is available in four variations – chicken, duck, fish and pork – and focuses on dehydrated treats, with novelties like duck beak, angelfish and pork trachea.

Each Christmas Box is priced at RM68, while the Santa Boot is RM38.

Furrenz founder Siew Yen tells FMT the Santa Boot can be delivered throughout Malaysia as the food is dehydrated, but the Christmas Box is only available within the Klang Valley as it contains cold products.

The enterprise is also running a campaign where animal lovers can buy a Christmas meal for the dogs at KLPooch at only RM25 a meal.

“Furrenz has created a delicious menu of Lamb Wellington and lamb quiche,” Yen shares, adding that they hope all the pooches will receive a yummy meal this Christmas.

All you have to do is select the dogs you wish to sponsor from KLPooch’s Instagram profile and send their names to Furrenz, who will also donate RM5 to KLPooch for each meal bought.

Yen started Furrenz in 2009 when she realised there was a lack of natural raw food for animals in the market, and set out to create fresh, top-quality pet food made with all-natural ingredients.

This isn’t the first time Furrenz is offering seasonal fare – earlier this year, they whipped up mooncakes and dumplings specially made for dogs to enjoy during the Chinese New Year, and are hoping to bring this back in 2022.
