Few would argue that three-year-old Gokul Kanna has a face that could launch a thousand ships. Yet he is oblivious of the many female felines who prance around the porch hoping to catch his eye.
“Many female cats want to be his friend. They come to our porch and call out to him. But he ignores them.
“I feel he thinks he’s the most good-looking dude in the neighbourhood,” Sarla Nadarajan says of her rescue baby.
When they persist in hanging around, Gokul ducks for cover in a game of hide-and-seek so he doesn’t have to make nice and engage in mindless chatter.

Apart from disliking the company of female cats, Gokul dislikes mixing with humans too. So, if you do drop by at Sarla’s house for any reason, do not lock eyes with the cat or worse yet, attempt to make physical contact with him.
“He, like his canine brother Tingku, doesn’t like having guests in the house,” Sarla says.
His best friend is – no prizes for guessing – Tingku. “Gokul and Tingku are best buddies. But Bairou and Gokul not so much,” says Sarla.

So how is Gokul towards Sarla? “He comes for cuddles when he chooses,” she says, adding that he is loving and sweet but that it is best to let him make the first move.
“Gokul has his own little bed and chill area. I absolutely love the zest he and the others have for life and adventure. They are such a crazy bunch of little furry kids and I love them with every beat of my heart.”
