On most days, Wesha Ooi’s furry bunch of five cats are a friendly riot.

They beam with bright, expressive personalities and never shy away from greeting Wesha’s guests with affectionate purrs and gentle paws.

However, there’s one introvert among the lot which, as Wesha puts it, is “the manja queen bee”. Her name is Ash.

“She never eats with the rest of the gang and just to avoid the other four, she usually eats after they are all done,” explained Wesha.

Despite Ash’s reserved demeanour, the two-year-old British Shorthair knows how to break the ice with new cats. Albeit a little shy at first, Ash rolls and tumbles along with other kitties rather well.

Still, she reserves most of her exuberance for her four housemates, Luna, Sola, Whoseen and Mulan.

When she’s not exploring her investigative side by digging through empty boxes, Ash expresses herself beautifully by scratching her artwork onto sofas.

The unassuming feline also has an affinity for entertaining herself by trampling on unused bubble wrap.

“She and the rest do all of this even though they have a cat tower and other toys,” chuckled Wesha.

‘Nap time is me time,’ says Ash. (Wesha Ooi pic)

But unlike her four pals who excitedly welcome Wesha’s guests, Ash takes time to warm up to new faces. In fact, she usually doesn’t even enjoy the company of humans at all.

“The only humans she is comfortable with are my partner and I,” added Wesha.

Even so, Ash and her fluffy housemates are the main reason Wesha receives visitors these days.

“I believe my friends come over now just to visit and play with my cats. I should really charge people an entrance fee each time they drop by!”
