Tyler remembers the first day two puppies entered his home as if it were yesterday. They were both mere months old, fresh out of the adoption shelter, and ready to shower the Kam family with abundant love.
Though the new additions to the family seemed like local breeds, the Kams agreed that the white one did, in fact, resemble a Siberian Husky, and as such, bestowed the name “Husky” upon him.
As for Husky’s sister, the family decided on the name “Uno”, as she was the first out of the litter to be selected for adoption.
Two years on, both Husky and Uno remain ever-radiant and continue to brighten up the Kam home – each in their own way.
But according to Tyler, Husky does exhibit some naughty yet intelligent behaviour, and he is brave when it comes to facing anything but thunder … and being left alone outside.
“Once, he sneaked out of the house while the gate was open. When it closed, he couldn’t find a way back in and started crying until we all realised that he was outside of the house,” says a laughing Tyler.
“Ever since that incident, he doesn’t like going outside anymore.”

Uno, on the other hand, is a very hyperactive dog who enjoys running out of the house in a bid to make someone in the family chase her.
“She’d only come back if you either stop chasing her, shout or offer treats,” laughs Tyler. “But if she’s chasing something, she has no regard for what’s in front of her such as pots, chairs or tables.
“Uno is very acrobatic in that she is able to jump about two feet high and is super fast; her brother on the other hand is much slower and barely jumps.”
What Tyler and other members of his family would expect later on is to clean up after all the mess.
But she makes up for it, by “putting her head on someone’s lap and resting there”, waiting for someone to pet her.
Other times, she literally showers everyone with extra love – quite literally – as she has a habit of drinking water and then splashing it on the nearest member of the family before going about her day!

Tyler relates that despite the differences between both siblings, Husky does get jealous when someone cuddles his sister Uno.
Tyler says that he would “either come to you or show you puppy eyes from a distance.”
Despite all the jealousy going on within the household, however, both Husky and Uno cannot be separated.
If it does happen, they will both cry and won’t rest until they have found each other.
“Uno has even attempted to climb over a wall just to get to her brother on the other side. Both of them love to hunt critters such as squirrels, rats and even civet cats.”
According to Tyler, the two dogs take the term “teamwork” very seriously when they do start chasing such critters.
Uno, clearly the more athletic of the two, will be the one holding the ‘victim’ down, while Husky gets to play bad cop.
As often said, both Husky and Uno are double the trouble but they do redeem themselves by giving double doses of love and laughter in the Kam home!
