Well, you’ve heard of dogs going for walks in the neighbourhood, but how many cats have you seen on a leash?

Meet Tuah, a beautiful Persian-mix who belongs to Aisyah. He was a gift from her aunty and came to live with Aisyah and her family while he was still a kitten.

He is a strapping young lad of 11 months today with luscious fur, stunning eyes and sweet pink lips that make all the neighbours coo in delight whenever they see him.

For such a young boy, Tuah is confident and brave, unafraid of the stray cats who linger outside his gate or the neighbour’s boisterous dogs who are eager to play with him.

“He is friendly and naughty sometimes,” Aisyah says, referring to the many times he has strutted over her text books and the computer keyboard when she was attending online classes.

“He also checks out my colour pencils and pokes his nose in my other art materials when I’m doing my assignments,” Aisyah says, adding that he accompanies her throughout the day at her work table while she studies.

Curious about his surroundings, Tuah loves exploring the neighbourhood and patiently waits for Aisyah’s mother to strap him up in his harness and leash so he can indulge in a walkabout.

At other times, Tuah is swaddled like a baby and carried on his walks. He is a calm cat, and is happy to be held as he looks at birds and squirrels, children playing and dogs running around.

When Tuah isn’t prowling around the ‘jungles’ outside, he likes lounging around inside where he often gets up to mischief. (Aisyah pic)

“He likes my mom’s mops and vacuum cleaner. In fact, he chases them as my mom cleans the house and won’t stop until she aims the nozzle at him and gives him a good vacuuming too,” Aisyah says, adding that Tuah usually lies on the floor in pure ecstasy when this happens and grabs the nozzle with his front paws like he’s finally “caught” his prey.

Nothing fascinates Tuah more than snuggling into a cardboard box and settling for the night. (R): Looking effortlessly handsome every second of the day. (Aisyah pic)

There is however one thing that frightens Tuah – not dogs or vacuum cleaners – it’s the sound of rumbling thunder. That’s when he looks rather scared and will duck into a corner for safety.

Apart from this minor setback, Tuah is a happy-go-lucky kitty who loves curling up and sleeping his mornings aways, conserving all his energy so he can spend his nights playing.

After an exciting day of playing, going for walks, eating and generally having fun, it’s time for some shut eye. (Aisyah pic)

When he tires himself out, Tuah likes to settle for the night by sleeping on top of a cupboard in Aisyah’s room. And when he feels the need for different surroundings, he’ll curl up and snooze on a rack beside Aisyah’s mom bed.

“But every morning, he crawls into bed and sleeps beside my mom to keep warm.”

Good night little Tuah… and may your days continue to be sunny and bright.
