A statement released by probiotic drinks manufacturer Yakult Malaysia said the 41-year-old former player from Japanese League club Kashima Antlers would have to undergo a mandatory quarantine period before beginning his first training session with KUFC in Kota Bharu.
“I can’t wait to join this team (KUFC) and play with them. I also can’t wait to meet the fans in Malaysia. Thank you for all your support,” he said in the statement.
Motoyama was part of the Japanese national squad that won the 2004 Asian Cup.
KUFC previously confirmed it had secured Motoyama’s services for the 2021 M-League season through strategic cooperation with Yakult Malaysia.
