French swimmer Leon Marchand wins 4th gold

French swimmer Leon Marchand won his fourth gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.

Marchand won the men’s 200m individual medley in the Olympic record time of 1 minute and 54.06 seconds.

The former record was set by Michael Phelps of the United States (US) at the 2008 Beijing Games in 1 minute 54.23 seconds.

Scott Duncan from Britain finished second in 1 minute 55.31 seconds. Chinese swimmer Shun Wang won bronze in a time of 1 minute 56 seconds.

Marchand, 22, also won gold in the 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke and the 400m individual medley.
