KUALA LUMPUR:
The country’s most promising Moto3 rider Syarifuddin Azman has to forego his hopes of competing in the final round of the World Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) in Valencia after suffering a fracture in his right hand.

The 22-year-old better known as Damok said medical tests conducted this morning showed a fracture which he sustained after losing control and crashing during the second free practice session at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Spain on Friday.

“Naturally, I am disappointed because I was hoping to race and do my best during the final race of the year. I am very thankful for the opportunity and experience gained. I will continue with my recovery when I return to Malaysia,” he said in a statement.

The mishap means that Damok will end the season with five points from 20 races, including the Valencia GP’s World Championship this season.

Damok who is representing Team MT Helmets-MSI, ended the first and second practice sessions on Friday in 15th and 23rd positions after clocking 23:40.722s and 1: 40.183s respectively.
