Men’s archery team clinch gold at Asia Cup in Taiwan

The team defeated India 226-225 in the final of the men’s Compound event.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The national archery squad pulled off a spectacular feat by winning the team gold in the 2023 Asia Cup Level 1 championships in Touyuan, Taiwan today.

The team comprising Juwaidi Marzuki, Syafiq Md Ariffin and Alang Ariff defeated India 226-225 in the final of the men’s Compound event.

Kazakhstan had to be satisfied with the bronze medal after beating Thailand 228-223 in a third-fourth playoff.

Meanwhile, Juwaidi added a bronze medal to his team gold from the individual men’s Compound event after beating Paul Marton De La Cruz from the Philippines 146-141.

The gold and silver were swept by archers from India, namely Pawan Gat and Priyansh respectively.
