SEOUL:
Jurgen Klinsmann has been named the new head coach of South Korea, the country’s football association said today.

Former Germany coach Klinsmann replaces Paulo Bento, who stepped down following South Korea’s defeat to Brazil in the last 16 of the World Cup in Qatar in December.

The Korea Football Association said Klinsmann had signed a contract until the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the US, Canada and Mexico.

After retiring as a player in 1998, Klinsmann was Germany head coach from 2004 to 2006 and also managed the US from 2011 to 2016.
