KUALA LUMPUR:
Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M Thinaah’s journey at the Indonesian Master’s ended after losing in the semifinals to Indonesian pair Apriyani Rahayu-Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti in one hour and 14 minutes at the Istora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta.

The 10th-ranked pair lost 23-21, 14-21, 14-21.

Pearly and Thinaah started well to take the first game 23-21 but the Indonesians, seeded seventh, bounced back to win the second 21-14 and forced a rubber.

Encouraged by the home support, Apriyani-Fadia then confirmed victory in the third game to proceed to the final.

The defeat for Pearly-Thinaah means there will be no national representation in the finals after No 1 men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia lost to Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting in the quarterfinals yesterday.
