KUALA LUMPUR:
Malaysian Para badminton ace Cheah Liek Hou put up an impressive performance to emerge champion at the Brazil Para International Badminton Championship on Sunday.

Liek Hou won the men’s singles SU5 category (upper limb disability) after beating Frenchman Meril Loquette 21-17, 21-17 in the final in Sao Paulo.

In his first competitive match since becoming Paralympic champion in Tokyo in September, the 34-year-old secured his sixth successive victory over Loquette.

“Despite winning, I am not happy with my performance after a seven-month hiatus. The wind was also fairly strong here, making it tough to perform my best.

“My performance was not very consistent throughout the matches here, but I’m determined to improve on my shortcomings when I return to Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
