Zii Jia cruises into BWF World Tour Finals semis

World No 8 maintains 100% winning record with a straight sets win over K Srikanth of India.

KUALA LUMPUR:
National men’s singles ace, Lee Zii Jia, concluded his final Group B match with another win, this time over K Srikanth at the BWF World Tour Finals 2021 in Bali, Indonesia.

The world No 8 maintained his 100 per cent winning record in the tournament after he swept past the Indian player 21-19, 21-14 in the event held at the Bali International Convention Centre, Nusa Dua.

The win saw Zii Jia progress to the semifinal as Group B champion while Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand was also through as runner-up.

Meanwhile, up and coming women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah lost their second match, 18-21, 11-21, to Tokyo Olympics gold winner Greysia Polii-Apriyani Rahayu, ending their journey in Bali after finishing third in Group A.

Mixed doubles duo, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing were also eliminated after finishing bottom of Group A after a 15-21, 17-21 loss to Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje.
