PETALING JAYA:
Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee disappointed in the women’s 10m platform synchro to come in last at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics today, prolonging Malaysia’s wait for a first medal at the Games.

The national divers faced difficulty midway through the competition, dropping out of the medal positions after three rounds.

They finished the competition with a total score of 277.98.

The Chinese pair of Chen Yuxi and Zhang Jiaqi, 15 and 17 respectively, finished first with 363.78 points.

Americans Jessica Parratto and Delaney Schnell were second with 310.80 points while Mexico’s Gabriela Agundez and Alejandra Orozco came in third on 299.70 points.

China have won women’s 10m platform synchro gold at every Olympics since its debut in Sydney in 2000.

Today’s gold is their sixth in the event.
