PETALING JAYA:
Malaysian divers proved they are too far ahead in this region by comprehensively winning the first two events at the SEA Games today.

The first gold medal came early in the day through Wendy Ng in 3m springboard.

It was a sweet victory for the 26-year-old, who had to return her gold medal from KL 2017 for failing a doping test.

She finished on 298.90 points and compatriot Jasmine Lai (241.95) completed a one-two podium finish by grabbing second place. Vietnam’s Ngo Phuong Mai (241.25) was third.

Wendy told Bernama: “I’m just really happy to reclaim the gold medal I lost.”

Chew Yiwei-Ooi Tze Liang later added another gold in men’s 3m springboard synchro.

The duo amassed 398.16 points from six dives to continue Malaysia’s winning streak in the event since Korat 2007.

Chawanwat Juntaphadawon-Thitipoom Marksin (344.76) of Thailand took silver while bronze went to Singaporeans Timothy Lee-Mark Lee Han Ming (340.53).
