MANILA:
Artistic gymnasts continued their fine form at the SEA Games by bagging two gold, one silver and two bronze medals today.

Having missed the women’s uneven bars gold at the last two editions, Farah Ann Hadi finally won it by impressing the judges to score 12.376 points.

Yesterday, she also won her first all-around gold at the biennial Games.

Do Thi Ngoc Huong took silver with 11.767 points, while Malaysian youngster Rachel Yeoh settled for bronze despite being tied on points with the Vietnamese.

Earlier in the vault, the 25-year-old Farah just managed fourth with 12.900 points.

Compatriot Tan Ing Yueh (13.300) failed to retain her title after finishing second to Indonesian Rifda Irfarnaluthfi (13.484).

“This is the medal I missed in KL (2017) and Singapore (2015). So I am grateful to get it this time,” Farah said after the medal presentation ceremony.

Farah is set to defend her floor exercise title tomorrow.

Tan Fu Jie also retained his men’s pommel horse title after scoring 13.967 points to beat Carlos Edriel Yulo of the Philippines (13.233) and Vietnam’s Dinh Phuong Thanh (12.867).

“This gold means a lot because after the last SEA Games I did not perform well. Having this shows I still can do it,” he said.

Earlier, Zul Bahrin Mat Asri clinched bronze in men’s floor exercise with 13.767 points.

Carlos Edriel (14.700) finished first while Thailand’s Surintornta Tikumporn (13.833) took silver.

After two days of competition, Malaysia lead the artistic gymnastics medal chart with three gold, one silver and three bronze.
