Sensational lawn bowls team sweeps 3 gold medals

NEW CLARK CITY:
Lawn bowlers provided massive joy for Malaysia today, winning three of four gold medals on offer at the Manila SEA Games.

The day’s first success came in women’s fours through Siti Zalina Ahmad, Afiqah Dayana Budiman, Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi and Syafiqah Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman.

The quartet defeated host nation Philippines 17-6 in the final at CDC Lot Friendship Gate.

Emma Firyana Saroji and Nurul Alyani Jamil added gold No 2 in women’s pairs, beating Brunei 21-14.

Men’s triples team of Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple, Fairus Abdul Jabal dan Syamil Syazwan Ramli capped a brilliant day for the squad by overcoming Philippines 14-8.

Fairus and Syamil were also part of the team that triumphed in KL two years ago.

Men’s pair Abdul Rais Hizlee-Rusli Soufi added a bronze with a 22-8 win over Brunei in the third-fourth placing match.
