DUNGUN:
It was a dream come true for an orphaned boy when Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) striker Safawi Rasid visited him on his last day at Dungun Hospital yesterday.

Danish Irfan, 11, and his six siblings became orphans after their parents were killed in a road crash near Ketengah Jaya on Oct 4.

The boy, critically injured in the accident, was treated at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital near Kuala Terengganu before being transferred to Dungun Hospital on Oct 30.

His aunt, Shaidah Idris said Danish is active in sports and Safawi is his idol in football.

“He really likes Safawi’s playing style and wanted to meet him after watching the Malaysia-Indonesia match on Tuesday,” she told Bernama.

Safawi scored both goals in the 2-0 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifier win.

The 22-year-old star was informed of the boy’s wish by his sister-in-law who is a doctor at the hospital.

He went to the hospital about 10am and spent more than half an hour with Danish.

“My sister-in-law said the boy mentioned my name many times and I just happened to be back in my hometown for holidays,” he said.
