KUALA LUMPUR:
National centreback Aidil Zafuan Radzak raised a few eyebrows by bringing English Premier League leaders Liverpool into the conversation during a press conference today.

While previewing the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asia Cup qualifier against Thailand, the 32-year-old remained confident a win was not out of reach “because the Reds were beatable”.

“We’ll fight no matter the opponents. We’ll not make it easy for the Thais,” said the Johor Darul Ta’zim player.

“There isn’t a team that can’t be beaten in the world. Even Liverpool can lose, it’s also possible to beat Thailand.”

Aidil was perhaps referring to the 2-0 defeat Jurgen Klopp’s men suffered at Napoli in the Champions League in September because the Merseysiders are the only unbeaten side in Premier League.

Malaysia, meanwhile, need a victory at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil tomorrow to move closer to Group G leaders Thailand.

Harimau Malaya are on three points, four behind Thailand and second-placed Vietnam.

Third-placed UAE have six points.

Tan Cheng Hoe’s men need to finish runners-up to stand a chance of moving to the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.
