KUALA LUMPUR:
Malaysian keglers continued their smashing performance by grabbing two more gold medals in men’s and women’s trio events at the Asian Championships in Kuwait yesterday.

The feat saw Malaysia accumulate four gold medals, having won the men’s and women’s singles titles through Timmy Tan and Shalin Zulkifli a few days ago.

Yesterday, the women’s trio comprising Shalin, Esther Cheah and Sin Li Jane knocked down 4,354 pins in the six blocks to take gold.

Two South Korean trios settled for silver and bronze after downing 4,311 and 4,297 pins respectively.

Men’s trio of Rafiq Ismail, Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek and Ahmad Muaz Fisol later knocked down 4,290 pins to secure the second gold.

Host country’s Khaled Aldubyyan, Jasem Alsaqer and Mostafa Almousawi took silver (4,280 pins) while another Malaysian trio – Hafiz Zainuddin, Timmy and Tun Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam – settled for bronze (4,246).

The bowlers will continue their medal hunt in the team of five events (men and women) today and tomorrow.
