The 22-year-old ended his barren run by winning the Singapore Open on June 30, then continued his winning form at the European Bowling Tour Masters in Madrid early July.
He followed that up with the Hong Kong International Open and the Hong Kong leg of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour last weekend.
The reigning world champion attributes his success to his positive attitude towards the competition.
“Previously, I struggled in a few tournaments, but I kept a positive mindset.
“I am very happy to achieve four titles in a month. My focus will now shift to the Philippines SEA Games in November,” he told Bernama.
Last year, Rafiq made history when he became the first Malaysian to clinch the Asian Games men’s Masters gold medal at Palembang in August as well as the World Championship singles gold medal in Hong Kong in December.
The left-handed bowler ended Malaysia’s 39-year drought for a world title, last won by Allan Hooi, Edward Lim and JB Koo through the trios event at the 1979 World Bowling Men’s Championships in Manila.
Next, Rafiq is expected to bowl at the 43rd Malaysian National and 32nd Interstate Bowling Championships from July 26 to Aug 4 at Sunway Mega Lanes.
