KUALA LUMPUR:
Ticket sales for Saturday’s big showdown between Kedah and Perak in the FA Cup opened this morning with thousands of fans camping overnight to ensure they don’t miss a chance to purchase them.

Ticket counters opened at 10.30am today, with Perak opening counters in most of the 12 districts for better access and distribution.

Kedah opted to open only one ticket counter – at Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar.

Each team were allocated 30,000 tickets for adults (sold at RM50) and 750 more for children (RM5), with the final to be played at the 80,000-capacity Bukit Jalil Stadium. Kickoff is at 9pm.

Another 18,000 adult and 500 children tickets were put up for sale online via www.tickethotline.com.my.

Ticket counters in Perak opened at 10 locations state-wide and they include at Perak Stadium, Parit Buntar Mini Stadium; Kampung Gajah Kemas office; Teluk Intan Municipal Council drive-through counter, Tanjung Malim Land and District Office; Lenggong Land and District Office, Kuala Kangsar Perak Jubilee Hall, and the Manjung Mini Stadium, all of which will be on sale until 3.30pm or until tickets sell out.

In Ipoh, checks by Bernama found some Perak fans camping at Perak Stadium grounds since last night in the hopes of being among the first to get their hands on the tickets.

A total of 15,000 tickets are being sold at Perak Stadium and 12,000 more available in the districts while the remaining 3,000 tickets are allocated for sponsors and relevant government departments.

Meanwhile, in Alor Setar, late night showers did not dampen Kedah fans’ spirits to spend the night at the Darul Aman Stadium grounds, and they were joined by thousands more in the morning before ticket counters opened at 10.30am.

There are 20,000 tickets up for grabs at the stadium while another 10,000 have been allocated for state dignitaries, VIPs, sponsors, Kedah Football Association (KFA) executive members, affiliate members and the team itself.

Perak, also known as The Bos Gaurus, qualified for their first FA Cup final in 14 years after edging Pahang 4-3 on aggregate in the semifinals while Kedah booked their place by edging Felda United on the away goal ruling after being tied 3-3.

Perak was defeated by Selangor 2-4 in their last FA Cup final in 2005 while four-time winners Kedah last lifted the cup in 2017 when they defeated Pahang 3-2 in the final played at Shah Alam Stadium.
