MONTE CARLO:
Fabio Fognini became the first Italian to win a Monte Carlo title in more than half a century as he defeated Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4 in Sunday’s final.

The 13th seed followed up on his semi-final upset of 11-time champion Rafael Nadal as he defeated a Serbian opponent playing in his first ATP final.

The last Italian to win here was Nicola Pietrangeli in 1968.
