KUALA LUMPUR:
After winning the 2019 Thailand Masters, national professional men’s doubles Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong are optimistic they can create another positive result at the 2019 Malaysia Masters.

The winners of the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games started the first round of the championship by beating Di Zijian-Wang Chang of China 21-14, 19-21, 21-9 at the Axiata Arena, KL Sports City.

V Shem said he and Wee Kiong only wanted to focus on every match and did not want to overly think about winning, although the previous edition saw them successfully advancing to the final.

‘’Last year is over. Now we want to do what is the best and we are confident we can give a good outcome,’’ he said after the match.

Waiting for them in the secord round is the Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan, who easily tamed the South Korean pair of Kim Gi Jung-Lee Yong Dae 21-16, 21-13.
