SANTOS: Santos extended their fine run of league form when they defeated Fluminense 3-0 with all the goals coming in the last eight minutes in Brazil’s Série A on Saturday.
Gabriel Barbosa broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute when he scored from the penalty spot after he was adjudged to have been pulled back inside the area.
Victor Ferraz got a second with three minutes remaining and Carlos Sánchez added the third goal a minute later to set the seal on a fine second-half performance.
The result, Santos’ fourth win in five games, takes them to 46 points in seventh place, equal with Atlético Mineiro, who play Ceará on Monday.
The top six in the league qualify for next year’s Copa Libertadores.
