
The former world champion, who is currently ranked sixth in the world, also wants to be in the best shape to pursue better results in the next few years.
“For the next phase in my career as a squash player, I just want the final years of my career to go on brilliantly.
“After that, I will focus on my squash academy,” she said after ending her run in the 2018 Commonwealth Games here in fourth place.
In the third-fourth placing match held at Oxenford Studios, Nicol lost to 25-year-old Tesni Evans of Wales in four sets.
Nicol, who made her sixth appearance at the Commonwealth Games, said the loss was part of a learning process, although she had been in the sport for a long time.
Nicol admitted she felt disappointed at not winning the bronze medal, but said she had done her best for the national contingent.
“I have done everything for my country, and all those who have come here to the Commonwealth Games want to win. So for those who have won medals, they deserve it.
“Like myself, I’ve also won (before). I came here with the desire for a medal.
“I gave everything. It’s not easy to play in a tournament like this. Not everyone gets a chance to do so,” she said.
For the record, Nicol won the women’s singles gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, as well as the 2014 edition in Glasgow, Scotland.
