JOHOR BAHRU: Super League leader for the current season, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), received a severe blow when its chief coach, Ulisses Morais, announced his resignation from the post effective today.

The announcement made in an entry in the official Facebook website of JDT – Johor Southern Tigers tonight had clearly been a shock to many people when it received 1,400 comments from football fans besides the news being shared more than 600 times.

Morais, 58, who had skippered the Southern Tigers squad for the past nine months in place of Mario Gomez, said the decision had to be made after taking into account the health factor of the family.

He expressed his gratitude to the owner of the club, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, for having given his trust to him in running the club.

Morais’ resignation would certainly have a significant impact on JDT as it is now leading the Super League with nine points from four matches, leading Terengganu by only a point with a total of eight points from four matches.
