Malaysia wins Busan beach football championship

35-year-old striker Zaharim Yusof scored two goals for Malaysia, while four other players scored a goal each.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has emerged champions of the Second International Beach Football Championship after defeating Awesome Club from China 6-3 in the final at Songdo beach, Busan, South Korea today.

35-year-old striker from Terengganu, Zaharim Yusof scored two goals for Malaysia while Fakhruddin Mohamad, Riduwan Md Noor, Fakhrullah Mohamad and Ridhwan Zainal each scored one goal, according to the official Facebook page of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

Ridhwan was named the most valuable player while Fakhrullah emerged as top scorer after scoring seven goals during the two-day tournament.

The BSC club from Japan took third place while PTU from Thailand finished fourth.

Earlier, Malaysia advanced to the final after beating BSC 4-3 through a penalty shoot-out following a 4-4 draw in the semifinals and Unknown club from South Korea 8-2 in the quarter-finals.
