The dividend is higher than the 4.05% declared in 2024 and remains competitive compared with returns offered by other financial institutions, especially given the additional benefits available under the scheme.

National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) chairman Norliza Abdul Rahim said the dividend payout involved an estimated RM505.68 million and would benefit 6.07 million account holders nationwide.
She said the 4.10% rate also reflected positive investment returns, compared with Bank Negara Malaysia’s overnight policy rate (OPR), which remained at 2.75% throughout 2025.
Norliza said this achievement reflects effective fund management and strategic investments in fixed deposits and sukuk, which helped ensure optimum returns.
“Effective risk management strategies and strategic investments in long-term fixed deposits and sukuk have helped improve investment returns,” she said when announcing the recent 2025 dividend.
In 2025, Simpan SSPN recorded deposits of RM3.33 billion, an increase of RM154.1 million, or 4.86%, from RM3.17 billion the previous year.
More than 500,000 new accounts were opened last year, bringing total deposits to RM23.88 billion as of Dec 31, 2025.
Norliza said the achievement showed continued public confidence in Simpan SSPN and growing awareness about saving early for children’s higher education expenses.
She said apart from dividends, Simpan SSPN also offered other benefits including free takaful coverage for depositors, matching grants of up to RM10,000 per eligible family, a government guarantee and shariah compliance.
“Most importantly, Simpan SSPN is the only savings product that offers income tax relief of up to RM8,000 a year,” she said.
Under Budget 2025, the government expanded eligibility for matching grants through the Inisiatif Geran Padanan Ihsan (GAPAI).
Norliza said families earning between RM4,000 and RM6,000 can now apply for matching grants of up to RM5,000 per family for Simpan SSPN Prime accounts, subject to
conditions.
PTPTN is also organising the Simpan SSPN 2026 Draw Campaign, which offers prizes worth nearly RM1.4 million to 954 winners between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2026.
Norliza said the competitive dividend rate is expected to attract more depositors while encouraging existing depositors to save more.
“I am optimistic Simpan SSPN will continue to remain the public’s preferred education savings product for their children’s higher education,” she said.
