Asyraf said Umno was prepared to receive anyone into its fold with no conditions, including Bersatu leaders and members who were recently sanctioned by their party.
“After all, they were from Umno originally. They can now return to where they truly belong,” he said in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, Bersatu sacked its deputy youth chief Faiz Rahmad, Sungai Tiang assemblyman Abdul Razak Khamis and Suka Menanti assemblyman Dzowahir Ab Ghani.
Razak is also deputy speaker of the Kedah state assembly, while Dzowahir is the Kedah agriculture, plantations and transport committee chairman.
The party also suspended seven leaders for two terms, namely Perak assemblymen Ahmad Man (Kuala Sepetang) and Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Zin (Chenderoh); Perak MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut); Pahang MP Khalib Abdullah (Rompin); Kelantan MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah); Terengganu MPs Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu) and Khlir Nor (Ketereh).
Ikmal and Rosol are among the most prominent of the Bersatu leaders to be sanctioned, having served as federal deputy ministers.
They were both formerly from Umno but joined Bersatu in February 2019. The duo have been outspoken supporters of Hamzah Zainudin, who was sacked from Bersatu in February at the height of a leadership tussle with party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
