PETALING JAYA:
Investment, trade and industry minister Johari Ghani has denied issuing letters requesting members of the public to deposit money into certain accounts, allegedly for investment purposes.

Johari reminded the public not to be deceived by such letters as they are forged.

“The ministry has never issued such letters,” he said in a Facebook post.

“The public is advised to remain vigilant and to lodge a police report immediately if they receive suspicious letters or investment offers.”

Johari also uploaded a video showing a man meeting him with a letter which bears the national coat of arms and the ministry’s letterhead.

The letter, allegedly issued in Johari’s name, required an investor to pay a RM3,000 “deposit” within three working days as a condition for receiving RM80,660 in profits from overseas investments.
