PETALING JAYA:
A dialysis patient was sentenced to three years in jail by the Seremban sessions court after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage patient at a hospital in Kuala Pilah in January.

Judge Surita Budin handed down the sentence on Zulkefli Rani, 60, who appeared in a wheelchair during today’s proceedings, reported Sinar Harian.

Zulkefli was ordered to serve his prison sentence from April 16, the date on which he was charged.

He was charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a hospital in Kuala Pilah at around 4pm on Jan 30.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a 20-year jail term and whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi informed the court that arrangements for Zulkefli’s dialysis were being handled by prison authorities.
