
Magistrate Mazanan Sinin sentenced Arif Fahmi Abd Salam, 36, to a year in prison and Nur Adila Najwa Ilham Ameerrullah, 21, to six months in jail, Sinar Harian reported.
They were also fined RM5,000 each and barred from holding a driving licence for five years.
They were both charged with recklessly and dangerously driving the express bus at the exit to the Bemban rest stop on the North-South Expressway, southbound, at around 7.30pm on Sunday.
The charge was made under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act, which provides for up to five years in jail, a RM5,000 to RM15,000 fine, and a minimum five-year disqualification from holding a driving licence, upon conviction.
Adila was also charged with insulting behaviour by using abusive language on a 44-year-old woman. The charge under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act is punishable by a maximum fine of RM100.
She was charged with committing the offence in the bus at around 6pm on the same day.
