SEREMBAN:
Police have arrested an Indonesian man to assist in investigations into the concealment of birth of a baby boy, who was reported to have died at a house in Labu near here on April 3.

Nilai police chief Johari Yahya said the man, in his early 30s, was detained following a report from a medical officer at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.

He said the report stated that a 39-year-old foreign woman sought treatment at the hospital at 9.53am yesterday due to bleeding and health complications.

“Preliminary investigations found that the woman is believed to have delivered twins at home without medical assistance. One of the babies was reported to have died shortly after birth, and the body was subsequently buried.

“Police investigated the scene and exhumed the baby’s remains for further examination before sending the remains to Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement last night.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth with the intention of disposing of the body.
