A local man was detained in a raid on a warehouse along Jalan Sin San, Tawau, at about 5pm yesterday, Bernama reported.

Sabah Region 4 marine police commander Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman said the raid was carried out following intelligence and a public tip-off.

Police trailed a lorry to the location.

“Inspections found that illegal diesel transfer activities were taking place.

“We found three lorries, three skid tanks and 10 drum barrels believed to have been used for the misappropriation of controlled goods,” he said.

Amri said enforcement operations will continue to be intensified to combat the misappropriation and smuggling of controlled goods.

While diesel is sold at RM6.72 in peninsular Malaysia, residents in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan continue to enjoy a subsidised price of RM2.15 per litre.

Last week, diesel was sold at between RM7.28 and RM9.63 in the Philippines. In Indonesia, non-subsidised diesel is sold at between RM3.36 and RM3.50 per litre.
