PETALING JAYA:
DAP’s central executive committee (CEC) has ordered all leaders and elected representatives to explain the severity of the global energy crisis resulting from the Iran war to the public.

DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said party leaders were also instructed to encourage the public to take steps to save energy and fuel, to reduce oil demand in light of the crude oil price surge.

“The CEC supports the government’s continuous efforts to manage this global crisis to sustain the economy and the people’s livelihoods while ensuring that the country’s resources are managed prudently,” he said in a statement.

Loke said the CEC met last night for a briefing on the Middle East conflict and the possibility of Malaysia experiencing fuel supply issues in May.

The DAP top leadership also stated its support for the government’s stern action against drivers who cause death while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, saying a strong message must be sent to ensure road safety.

Loke also said that DAP representatives in the select committee vetting the bill to separate the roles of the attorney-general and public prosecutor had been ordered to push for swift improvements so that the bill could be tabled in June.

“The CEC also urges the government to continue ensuring that all SPM graduates who obtain 10 As or more will be given automatic placements in matriculation programmes.

“The government should also ensure that other high-performing students are given appropriate consideration for such placements, according to the existing capacity,” he said.
