PETALING JAYA:
Draft planning guidelines for non-Muslim houses of worship will be presented to the Cabinet soon, says national unity minister Aaron Ago Dagang.

He said the guidelines developed by the housing and local government ministry outlines planning, development and implementation mechanisms for these houses of worship.

“It will be brought to the Cabinet meeting in the near future,” he said in a Facebook post.

Aaron said the draft was presented at the 87th meeting of the national local government council on March 12.

He also said the unity ministry would be setting up a platform named Prisma that would serve as a point of reference for “sensitive community issues”, as part of efforts to ensure unity issues are handled in a more holistic, proactive and data-centred manner.

Aaron said the ministry is refining plans to set up 12 new community mediation centres across 10 states as well as in Kuala Lumpur and Labuan.

“These centres will handle issues such as disputes among neighbours, noise disturbances, quarrels, parking problems and community environmental issues,” he said, adding that this would allow minor conflicts to be resolved amicably before they escalate.
