5.0-magnitude quake hits southwest of Sumatra

The Meteorological Department says there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia, at 2.08am today.

MetMalaysia said the earthquake was centred at coordinates 7.8° south and 104.6° east, at a depth of 121km.

The quake was located 260km southwest of Cilegon, Indonesia, and there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
