Panel set up to probe trainee doctor’s death in Kelantan hospital dormitory

State health department director Azman Yacob says the committee will conduct a holistic investigation into the incident.

The Kelantan health department has set up a committee to investigate the death of a female trainee doctor at a dormitory of the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai.

Its director Azman Yacob said the committee will conduct a holistic investigation, looking into the cause of the incident, workplace stress, and other contributing factors, Berita Harian reported.

“We are saddened by the incident, and I visited her family this morning. The deceased was a graduate from Mansoura University in Egypt and was undergoing her practical training,” he was quoted as saying.

He urged the public to avoid speculation that could affect the family emotionally.

The 29-year-old trainee doctor was found dead in the bathroom of the dormitory on Friday.

Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said the case has been classified as sudden death.
