PETALING JAYA:
Controversial singer Wee Meng Chee, who was remanded in the investigation into the death of a Taiwanese social media influencer, had his police bail extended by two weeks today.

Wee, who was remanded for nine days, was initially released on police bail for two weeks on Nov 13 pending the completion of Hsieh Yu-hsin’s autopsy report.

Chinese news outlet Sin Chew Daily reported that Wee, better known as Namewee, reported to the Dang Wangi police headquarters at about 3pm today and was seen leaving about an hour later.

In a statement, Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said Wee’s police bail has been extended until Dec 10.

He also said police are still awaiting Hsieh’s toxicology and autopsy reports.

Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar previously said the rapper would be released on bail as the Attorney-General’s Chambers had found no evidence linking him to Hsieh’s death last month.

Dusuki also said the investigation paper will be referred back to the deputy public prosecutor’s office once the autopsy report is complete.

Hsieh was found dead in a hotel bathtub in Kuala Lumpur, where Wee had reportedly met her to discuss filming a video.

Police said the two shared a “special relationship”, without offering details.

Wee surrendered himself to the police on Nov 5 after the case was reclassified as murder.

He was first arrested on Oct 22 after authorities discovered nine blue pills suspected to be ecstasy in the hotel room.

Police said he later tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and THC.

Wee, who was charged with drug possession and consumption, pleaded not guilty and was released on bail of RM4,000 on each charge.
