Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said four suspects in the case had been arrested and remanded.
“The men in their 30s and 40s were arrested on Nov 21 and Nov 22. The remand of two of them ends today, and will be continued, while the remand of the two others will end on Friday,” Berita Harian reported him as saying.
Alzafny also said police had recorded statements from 10 witnesses.
He said they were still trying to determine the cause of the incident, but that all four suspects had criminal records, including offences linked to violence, burglary and drugs.
“The victim himself had a criminal record. This incident was likely due to gang activity,” he said.
Alzafny said both the suspects and victim were linked to burglaries in Negeri Sembilan and the Klang Valley.
“We are still hunting for the other suspects in this case. We also need more witnesses to come forward and provide information,” he said.
On Nov 20, Alzafny said the 33-year-old victim had been shot and slashed to death by a group of men with pistols and parangs near a restaurant in Nusari Biz Sendayan.
He said the victim had a criminal record for 42 offences, including burglary, assault and house-breaking.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for discharging a firearm in the commission of a scheduled offence.
