PETALING JAYA:
AmBank today apologised after a video went viral showing a man believed to be homeless being splashed with water and kicked outside its Taman Maluri branch.

In a statement, the bank said it was “deeply concerned and saddened” by the incident, and that no individual deserved to be treated in such a manner.

The video showed the man who had been sleeping on a walkway near the branch being sprayed with water by a guard. Another man then kicked him, threw his belongings and splashed him again.

AmBank said the security guard seen in the clip was employed by an external security service provider appointed by the bank, while the second man was believed to be a cobbler who had been frustrated with the victim.

“Regardless, we expect all personnel representing our bank, including vendors and partners, to uphold the highest professional conduct,” it said.

“We are also in full cooperation with the relevant authorities, and we aim to prevent this from ever happening again.”
